T-6 Days: Reflecting on GTA V Map

Posted: Sep 11 2013

6 days left. I'm running out of ways to wait for GTA V to come out so I thought I'd share some of my thoughts regarding the recent map leak. My first thought is HOLY SHIT! But since then I've composed myself and put together what I make of the leaked map, which is almost assuredly real. Check out the video below:

In the city, city of Los Santos

If you watched the video, you know the overall map is absolutely massive. However, the main city seems relatively small for such a large map. I'm not really sure that's a concern at this point since this is the only first city we're aware of. I'd expect a collection of other, smaller cities. In fact this may be a positive thing, since the city size and potential for other cities may encourage more travel back and forth and sport many "sweet spots" for random, mindless carnage, as opposed to sticking to the same general areas.

Going to the country, gonna shoot me a lot of people

MASSIVE COUNTRYSIDE. This may be the thing I'm most excited for in the game right now. GTA IV lacked a lot of wide open country space, but it appears GTA V has an absolutely ludicrously sized rural area. The sheer amount of exploration possible alone is giving me jitters. Just think about how great all that open space will be for flying shenanigans. We don't really know what's going to be featured in that large, open space quite yet, but I bet it's going to be awesome.

The Legend Reveals

.

We got a map legend! The first thing that stands out to me is flight school. Hopefully it's not as...clunky as it was before. But with all that space it may be one of the first things I set out to do. Yoga is a bit interesting, since it's something I'd never do in real life and thus likely never in-game. But wait...A cinema! So rather than having to put the game down and watch a movie I can actually just go watch a movie in-game? Genius. It looks like there won't be a shortage of things to do. I may never go outside again.

Six days guys!
